Charlie Sheen’s new Netflix documentary is a winner, winner with his family.
However, before the Two and a Half Men alum—whose public struggle with addiction led to his firing from the sitcom—began working on the two-part tell-all, he admitted that those closest to him had some reservations.
“As any parents would be, there was initial concern,” Charlie—who is the son of actor Martin Sheen—exclusively told E! News Sept. 4 at the aka Charlie Sheen premiere. “And not for how it would be received, but how it might affect me, and was I really ready to cannonball into this deep end.”
Despite the hesitation, the 60-year-old—who is dad to daughter Cassandra, 40, with ex Paula Profit, daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 20, with ex Denise Richards, and twin sons Bob and Max, 16, with ex Brooke Mueller—advocated for the project.
“I told them if I don’t [do it], then I’m never going to control the narrative, or at least influence it or apply some truth on top of the fiction,” he continued in the interview, airing tonight on E! News at 11 p.m. “But once they felt that I was confident that this was the right thing to do and the right time to do it, they were completely supportive.”
