After spending over £200million on four players in the summer, Manchester United are already putting plans together for their next piece of business in the transfer market
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a new shot-stopper, despite the recent acquisition of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for a cool £18.2million plus add-ons. The Belgian is yet to feature for Ruben Amorim’s squad with Altay Bayindir preferred.
The 23-year-old has already made his presence known on the bench during the Manchester derby, but head coach Ruben Amorim insists there’s no guaranteed number one keeper in his squad. “No, nobody has a place that is his place,” he responded when quizzed about whether Bayindir was his first choice following Andre Onana’s loan move to Trabzonspor.
“Everyone has to fight. Everyone is fighting for a place. I’m just trying to win games, trying to see what is the best option to win the next game.”

Despite Bayindir starting every Premier League match so far, he’s yet to fully win over the coaching staff. Prior to signing Lammens, United had reportedly agreed personal terms with World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa, but ultimately opted for the Belgian.
According to The Sun, securing a top-tier goalkeeper is now high on United’s agenda. AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, whose contract runs out next year, is one name being bandied about, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Chelsea attempted to snap him up in the summer with a £12million bid, falling short of Milan’s £21million asking price. It’s understood that United bigwigs have recently been in talks with Maignan’s representatives, who also manage £65million summer signing Bryan Mbeumo.
Alongside a new shot-stopper, United are also looking to splash the cash on a midfielder. Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba is reportedly on their radar, especially with Casemiro’s contract due to run out next year.
Kobbie Mainoo’s future at the club is also currently uncertain after failing to break into Amorim’s plans. The England international has been used mainly off the bench this season and has been linked with a move away.
