West Ham United boss Graham Potter has seen his face used as part of viral face-swap memes on social media amid the Hammers’ poor run of form this season

West Ham United boss Graham Potter admits he has seen the viral face-swap memes of him on social media. Fans have been amusing themselves by superimposing the face of the 50-year-old onto various famous personalities, in the wake of West Ham’s 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

The humorous face-swaps featuring the likes of Donald Trump, Sydney Sweeney and the Chuckle Brothers have garnered millions of views. The former Chelsea boss had endured a miserable tenure at the London Stadium since his appointment in January.

Potter’s team have recorded just one win across all competitions so far this season – a 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest in late August. The Hammers currrently sit 19th in the top-flight table with Potter under pressure.

And the Englishman has admitted to having seen the viral memes of him on social media – revealing they have been a great source of amusement for his son.

“Yes I am [aware of the trend],” he said at Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“It made my 15-year-old son laugh a lot so, as I said, you have to accept what comes with it. It comes with criticism, it comes with ridicule but that’s just the environment we’re in and it is what it is.

“No, not really [I haven’t got a favourite], I haven’t given it too much thought. You can imagine I’ve got a few more important things to concentrate on than that but as I said, it is what it is. You have to deal with those things.”

Potter also revealed that he had held “positive talks” with the club’s hierarchy over his future. “Yeah, [they were] positive talks, but of course we all understand where we are at and we want to improve,” he said.

“If results aren’t good, which they haven’t been, then there is always speculation, noise and negativity.”

He added: “Nobody is happy with where we are at but at the same time you have to look at the context and not get caught in the noise.

“It doesn’t affect me and I don’t listen to that. It is part of the noise of the Premier League and it is what you sign up for.”

West Ham travel to Everton on Monday evening (8pm kick-off UK time) for a reunion with former Hammers boss David Moyes. The Scotsman led West Ham to a famous Conference League triumph in 2023, before leaving at the end of the following season and taking over at Everton again in January.
