England Women’s Rugby beat Canada to win the World Cup and now details of their planned celebrations have been confirmed

England Women’s Rugby World Cup celebration plans have been confirmed after their 33-13 victory over Canada. Tries from Ellie Kildunne, Amie Cokayne, Alex Matthews and Abbie Ward made up the majority of points, with Zoe Harrison converting all four.

In front of a spectacular 81,885 spectators packed inside Twickenham, the Red Roses triumphed in dominant fashion. After racing into an early lead, England briefly went down to 14 players after Hannah Botterman was shown a yellow card.

However, Canada failed to capitalise on their advantage with England instead increasing the deficit. Following their victory, a statement to England Rugby’s official website made plans for their celebrations official.

“The Red Roses will celebrate their historic home Women’s Rugby World Cup win with fans during the Champions Party at Battersea Power Station, London, on Sunday 28 September from 2pm,” an announcement confirmed.

“The Champions Party will take place at North Park along the riverside area of Battersea Power Station. It will be hosted by Katy Daley-Mclean and Topsy Ojo, and will be broadcast on BBC1 from 3pm as well as on England Rugby’s YouTube channel.

“The event is free to attend and those joining will be able to listen to live music before welcoming the Red Roses, experiencing the trophy lift and interacting with the players as they walk through the crowd.”

“We are so proud of our world champion Red Roses for their historic win in the Women’s Rugby World Cup final,” RFU CEO Bill Sweeney was also quoted saying.

“To achieve this in England and at Allianz Stadium, the home of England Rugby, makes this victory even more rewarding. Our congratulations go to entire playing squad and management team on this monumental achievement.

“We can’t thank fans, across the country, enough for their support of the Red Roses during the tournament – it’s been phenomenal. The Champions Party not only gives the nation the chance to pay tribute to the team, whether in person, online or on television, but also to be part of a huge moment in sporting history.”
