Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a bright start to life with Barcelona and former striker Sergio Aguero has shared his opinions on his form in Catalonia as he attempts to seal a permanent move

Marcus Rashford’s start to life at Barcelona has been praised by former Manchester City star Sergio Aguero. The Manchester United forward joined the Spanish giants on a season-long loan in the summer.

Barcelona have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. Rashford, 27, has since had a bright start to life with his adoptive employers with three goals and five assists in all competitions.

Aguero, who spent a few months with Barcelona following his exit from the Etihad, said to Mundo Deportivo: “ Marcus Rashford ’s start at Barcelona is doubly admirable. He has started very well being useful to the team with assists and goals. He has had a very good adaptation.

“Who is the one who plays as a starter or not will be decided by the manager, but it is clear that a team like Barcelona needs to have many options to be able to perform in the different competitions in which they participate.”

Aguero’s assessment of Rashford’s early season form comes after the striker has spoken out himself. He recently suggested that the environment at Old Trafford contributed to his inconsistent form while a United player.

He said: “For sure, consistency is a massive part of it. I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent.

“But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game, and I am looking to do that. I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.

“When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything, not just sport, you need consistent variables in your life and the way you train. We have just had so many changes so far in my career.

“But I have to look forward, and that is definitely one of the things I want to put right and improve on to be at my best more often. When I am at my best, I really enjoy everything about the sport.”

Former United star Wayne Rooney has hit back at that claim and suggested that the environment wasn’t actually at fault, instead it was down to Rashford to ensure his mindset was in the right place. Rashford will be aiming to extend his positive form for Barcelona this weekend as the Spanish side take on Girona.
