The Lionesses are back in action on Saturday as they take on Brazil in a friendly at the Etihad Stadium before hosting Australia on Tuesday.

England will be without Euros hero Hannah Hamton for Saturday’s friendly against Brazil. The goalkeeper will miss the match with a minor elbow injury and will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s game vs Australia.

It will mean that there will be a debut in goal for the Lionesses for the game at the Etihad Stadium (5.30pm kick-of). Hampton’s absence means that Brighton’s Sophie Baggaley has been called up to the squad to provide cover.

However, one of Khiara Keating or Annah Moorhouse are expected to start in goal against Brazil. Wiegman has revealed that she has made a decision over who will start, but will not disclose the information before the teamsheet is out.

“I have made the decision,” she said. “But as always, we have to get through this session. Then, of course, I inform the team first before I inform you.”

On Hampton’s injury, she told BBC Radio 5Live: “Of course it’s not nice to have an injury but it’s not a major injury. It’s also an opportunity for the other goalkeepers.

“These friendly games are good to try out things and we were going to do that anyway. With goalkeepers, it’s always harder as there’s just one position.”

England will be without some other players for the game too. Wiegman revealed on Friday that Lotte Wubben-Moy had left the camp due to illness.

Earlier in the week, it was confirmed that Katie Reid, Jess Park and Grace Clinton have all withdrawn from the squad due to injury. Captain Leah Williamson is also unavailable, after undergoing surgery on a knee problem just after the Euro 2025 triumph.

It has been confirmed that the armband will be worn by Keira Walsh. Lauren Hemp and Lauren James were also not included in the current squad due to injuries.

In a boost, Lucy Bronze is back available after returning from a fractured tibia she played with during the European championships. The full-back was named as England Women’s player of the year earlier this week.

“I think it’s really good that we have four friendlies over this couple of months,” Wiegman added ahead of the game against Brazil.

“What you also want to do is try out new things, see players, see different combinations. So that’s a huge opportunity. It’s necessary also, of course, because we have some injuries.”
