Erling Haaland is far and away the leading scorer in the Premier League this season and the Manchester City star celebrated in an unusual way after his latest brace
Manchester City star Erling Haaland was his team’s hero yet again on Sunday and the Norwegian had a new use for his man of the match award. Haaland scored twice as City beat Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium, lifting them above their opponents into second place in the Premier League.
In a video shared on social media, the striker moves close to the camera while holding up the man of the match award he received for his display. “For motivation purposes only,” he says, before looking at his watch.
“Eight degrees outside” he notes, while placing the award on a shelf alongside an ice bath. “Motivation stands there,” he adds, before kicking off his footwear and getting into the freezing water.
City fans enjoyed the clip, with one making a joke after seeing Haaland barely react to the cold. “You’re letting them find out our big secret bro. You allowing them know you’re a robot,” the fan replied.
“Someone should inspect that water I think that’s where he gets his power from,” said another with a cry-laughing emoji. Even rival fans were impressed, with one writing: “I hate that I can’t hate this guy. What a lad he is.”

Haaland’s first goal came with barely 15 minutes on the clock when he raced onto a Rayan Cherki flick and got the better of Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. Tyler Adams briefly brought the visitors level, but Haaland restored the lead from another Cherki assist before half-time.
City made sure of the points in the second half as Nico O’Reilly scored his first goal of the season. Haaland is already on 13 in the league this term, more than twice as many as anyone else in the English top flight, and has a further four in the Champions League.
“To give the chances and the passes to them. This is what we have to do,” City boss Pep Guardiola told BBC Radio 5 Liver after Haaland’s latest achievement. “He knows that but we are so blessed and lucky to have, first of all, an incredible person because he’s the sweetest and kindest. And he will improve. And after that, as a player the numbers are just outstanding.”
Next up for City is a match against Haaland’s former club Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. “We have a big chance with the two games at home to qualify for the Champions League [knockout stages],” Guardiola added.
“It’s a really, really important game. And after time to think about the last game before the international break against Liverpool.”
