Ariana Grande couldn’t defy gravity for this special occasion.
The “Popular” singer revealed she won’t be joining Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and more at the Wicked: For Good world premiere in Brazil on Nov. 4 due to an Issue with her flight.
“Brazil, I can’t believe this is happening and I am beyond devastated to be sending this message,” Ariana wrote on her Nov. 3 Instagram Stories. “A few hours ago, my team and I had to deplane our flight, as they had to do maintenance on the plane due to a safety issue and it will not be taking off until 11 a.m. tomorrow, which means that I would not be making it in time.”
The 32-year-old—who stars as Glinda opposite Cynthia’s Elphaba’s in 2024’s Wicked and the sequel releasing in theaters Nov. 21—noted that “my team and Universal have tried every single thing possible to fix this,” including searching for different flight options.
However, none of those alternatives would get her there before the film’s premiere.
