Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay’s wedding has been hit by drama with celebrity chef, and Holly’s dad, Gordon Ramsay also having his say on the upcoming celebration
Whilst controversy continues to swirl around the forthcoming nuptials between swimming star Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay, the Olympic hero can rely on backing from Holly’s dad, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Holly has recently faced accusations of being “divisive and hurtful” after allegedly choosing not to invite Peaty’s mum to their wedding ceremony.
The row erupted when Holly, 25, included her own mum Tana, family pal Victoria Beckham and Adam’s sister in her hen party, but excluded Adam’s mother Caroline, 59. Adam, meanwhile, is understood to have asked Gordon, also 59, to join his stag celebration.
Gordon has demonstrated his genuine feelings towards Peaty previously, lauding the three-time Olympic medallist and even backing him during a punishing triathlon in August, where Peaty competed as part of the celebrity chef’s squad.
Ramsay couldn’t participate himself owing to having sutures on his cheek, so assumed the position of supporter at the Royal Victoria Dock in London. When Peaty completed the course, a delighted Ramsay put his arm around him, thrilled with his prospective son-in-law’s achievement.
Offering the three-time Olympic medallist his endorsement, Ramsay revealed that he and his wife Tana “couldn’t ask for anyone better” as their son-in-law. He also disclosed how Peaty informed them about his proposal plans for Holly. “He’s a very nice guy,” Gordon said.

“He’s so down to earth and so focused and disciplined. “He sat us down in Cornwall and he said, ‘Holly is just the perfect woman. I’d like to get your blessing – from you and Tana for her hand in marriage’. It was that sort of amazing moment. Everything went quiet.
“As a future son-in-law, we couldn’t ask for anyone better. He’s so grounded. Those two get on so well. It’s a blessing.”
Gordon has been hands-on with the wedding preparations and even let slip that the couple were planning to say ‘I do’. “It’s going to be a Christmas wedding,” the celebrity chef spilled during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. “They’re looking at areas and venues and lots of planning.”
However, the upcoming nuptials have been overshadowed by a bout of family drama. Peaty’s aunt, Louise Williams, even took to Instagram to air her grievances with Holly.
The post read: “@hollyramsayy I’m so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply.
“A woman who opened her home and heart to you. You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night.
“You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum’s assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.
“I have also seen messages passing between her and Adam about this and other matters and, quite frankly, I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.”
The Daily Mail alleged that Peaty had grown distant from his mother after becoming close with the Ramsay family. It’s reported the sportsman and his partner have now even barred Caroline from the wedding ceremony itself, which is due to take place on Christmas Day at Bath Abbey.
Caroline, from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, herself entered the shocking dispute by expressing her anguish in an Instagram post. She wrote: “Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.”
Her post drew messages of support and worry from friends including one who commented: “Don’t let them drag you down Caroline.” The same person continued: “You know considering they are both supposed to be mental health advocates they don’t seem to be showing much regard for yours.”
The remark referenced the mental health battles of Holly and world champion Adam, who stepped away from competitive swimming in 2023 following “three years of hell,” during which he fought depression and alcoholism.
