James Van Der Beek is parting with some Dawson’s Creek treasures amid his health battle.
The 48-year-old, who has been battling stage 3 colon cancer for more than two years, is offering up several items from his personal collection in Propstore’s Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction that is set to take place in December.
“I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them,” James said in a statement posted on the U.K. company’s website, “and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now.”
“And while I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items,” he continued, “it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years.”
According to People, proceeds will go to the actor to help fund his battle against cancer.
