Marcus Rashford has been in fine form since joining Barcelona on loan from Manchester United
Former Manchester United star Gordon Strachan reckons allowing Marcus Rashford to leave Old Trafford has proved to be the correct call by the club. The forward has rediscovered his finest form at Barcelona, with Rashford joining the La Liga giants on a season-long loan during the summer, with the possibility to secure a permanent switch to the Camp Nou.
United inserted a buy-option clause in the agreement valued at approximately £28million. Under manager Hansi Flick, Rashford has scored six goals and registered nine assists across 16 outings in all competitions.
Strachan believes that the transfer has benefited both player and club, claiming it has also spared Ruben Amorim an additional dilemma in the changing room.

“Marcus Rashford was very good for England last week, but I maintain that Manchester United were right to part way with him,” Strachan told ESports News. “The time was right for both parties to move on, and it’s been proven to have been the right decision.
“Rashford was struggling at United and it seemed as if he didn’t have Ruben Amorim’s full confidence; he wasn’t getting a lot of game time, but in the minutes that he did play, I think it’s fair to say he didn’t prove the doubters wrong.
“I’m glad to see him finding success at Barcelona. Everyone has said all along that he’s a talented player – that’s never been in doubt.
“The move has benefitted his career and also allowed United to move forward, rather than be stuck with a dilemma in the dressing room.”
Rashford found himself on the sidelines under Amorim’s management after the head coach’s arrival at United in November last year, before the forward completed a loan move to Aston Villa in February.
Flick, who has previously spoken about Rashford’s importance to the squad, stated: “When you see the chances he has, one or two goals more will be good, also for him.
“But we can be happy with him, of course. I am very happy with him. He can play on this level and I am happy he shows it, for the fans and for the club, and also for the teammates he is a very important player.”
Rashford has already expressed his desire for a permanent move to Catalonia, but whether Barcelona will cough up the required funds to secure him permanently next year remains to be seen.
