Alex Scott delved into a personal discussion of her sexuality while talking about her relationship with Jess Glynne on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Alex Scott has revealed how the emotional bond with a female partner has enabled her to experience greater intimacy in the bedroom. The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant has opened up about her romance with pop star Jess Glynne during her first few days in the jungle.
The pair went public with their relationship towards the end of 2023, and it was during Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV programme that the Arsenal icon spoke candidly about her sexuality.
Speaking about her personal journey of dating both men and women, the 41-year-old explained that the stronger her emotional bond with a partner, the more intense their physical relationship became.
Scott explained: “It’s completely different with women, especially for me it’s always been about a deep emotional connection which then makes the sex more passionate than ever anyway because you have such a deep bond between you.
“I had relationships with men throughout my life, there was always something missing for me that I’d never have with a woman. My first [sexual experience] with a woman was when I was 17, I was fighting it. I’d go back to men between because for me, it’s always about the connection.
“I am attracted to men still, but literally that connection would just wear off for me. And then I’m like ‘well. I’m not enjoying the sex anymore’.” Scott’s heartfelt confession followed her hint at a possible wedding with Glynne after fellow campmate Ruby Wax questioned whether marriage could be on the cards for the couple.
Scott responded: “I will get married to her, just waiting for her to ask, Rubes!” Glynne, who was watching from home, added to the excitement by posting on her Instagram Stories: “I better go get a ring.”
Scott and Glynne publicly confirmed their relationship after they were seen attending various events together. They were also caught sharing a kiss during a walk, which only added to the rumours that they were a couple.
The host of Football Focus discussed her past relationships in her memoir How (Not) To Be Strong, where she disclosed that she had an eight-year relationship with her Arsenal and England team-mate Kelly Smith.
Confessing to falling “madly and deeply in love” with Smith, Scott said that despite the heartbreak she experienced, she wouldn’t alter the experience she had. The former Lioness wrote: “For me, it’s like that first love story. I fell madly and deeply in love.
“Yes, there’s that heartbreak and those things, but it’s a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t go back and change that. Because that feeling of love and that excitement and what it gives you, it needed to be in there.”
Scott also once went on a date with Coronation Street actor Sam Robertson, which she admitted was “disastrous” due to media attention. “My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely,” she told The Sun in 2022.
“The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo. It wasn’t exactly a great start!”
