Leny Yoro had a difficult afternoon but his Manchester United sie came from behind to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
Mason Mount demonstrated his leadership qualities as he consoled Leny Yoro following Manchester United’s comeback victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday. Despite the win, it was a tough day for young centre-back Yoro who conceded a first-half penalty after fouling Jean-Philippe Mateta in the box.
The forward then successfully converted the penalty, despite having to retake due to a double kick on his initial attempt. However, the match wasn’t all doom and gloom as Ruben Amorim’s squad rallied in the second half.
Joshua Zirkzee equalised and, ten minutes later, substitute Mount put them ahead for the first time in the match. United managed to hold onto their lead, securing a much-needed victory and breaking a three-match streak without a win.

Following Monday’s disappointing 1-0 defeat against a ten-man Everton at Old Trafford, this was a significant step in the right direction.
The season has been testing for 20-year-old Yoro and Sunday’s penalty incident only added to his woes. The youngster appeared downcast as he was substituted for Noussair Mazraoui early in the second half.
His disappointment continued post-match, and Mount was quick to comfort Yoro as they left the pitch. He seemed to whisper something to him while placing an arm around his shoulder.
This act of solidarity from the United midfielder was a clear demonstration of leadership, offering support and encouragement to a young teammate experiencing a difficult period.
The first-half penalty incident was branded as “clumsy” by TNT Sports pundits during the match. Joe Cole offered his assessment but emphasised it would provide a valuable lesson for Yoro.
“It’s just so clumsy,” he said. “He’s got the wrong side of him. You’ve got to sort your feet out, he’s tripped over his own feet.
“It’s really clumsy and he needs to learn that, in the Premier League, you’ll get punished.”
Amorim’s squad are back in action midweek when West Ham visit Old Trafford. Following that, it’s an away trip to Wolves the subsequent Monday.
The victory against Palace lifts United to seventh position in the table on 21 points, sitting just three behind Villa in fourth spot.
Liverpool, Brighton, Sunderland and Palace are also amongst the sides currently competing for Champions League qualification.
