Mohamed Salah has spoken out on his fractured relationship with Liverpool head coach Arne Slot after being benched for three successive games, with major doubt over his squad involvement

Mohamed Salah is a major doubt for Liverpool’s next two matches as Arne Slot has received backing. According to reports, the Egyptian could miss the Reds’ final two matches before the Africa Cup of Nations following his incendiary post-match comments.

TalkSPORT reports that the Anfield hierarchy has backed the Premier League manager, and the 33-year-old may have already played his last game before heading off for the Africa Cup of Nations. It’s suggested that Salah, who is due to join his national team, could be omitted from the squad for their upcoming matches against Inter Milan and Brighton and Hove Albion.

It comes in the wake of Salah hitting back after being frozen out for the last three consecutive games. Slot has been feeling the heat as Liverpool‘s title defence has faltered.

Salah’s comments have further stirred the pot, causing a rift among the Liverpool faithful with the season teetering on the edge. However, it’s reported that the Anfield bosses believe that Slot should have the autonomy to make tactical decisions and that players should react professional.

Liverpool are set to face Brighton this Saturday, just days after their crucial Champions League clash in Milan. The match against the Seagulls was supposed to be Salah’s last appearance before jetting off to Morocco to link up with his Egyptian compatriots.

But there are now serious doubts over whether Salah will be involved in either of the two fixtures, according to the report. The 33-year-old was seen leaving the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby on Sunday, just hours after making his explosive revelations.

Salah took part in the recovery session with his fellow players, though questions remain over whether his appearance in the 1-1 stalemate against Sunderland in midweek – when he replaced Cody Gakpo – may prove to be his last outing in a Liverpool shirt.

Following the draw at Elland Road, he said: “I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season.

“Now I’m sitting on the bench, and I don’t know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.

“I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far, I am on the bench for three games so I can’t say they keep the promise.

“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.

“Yeah, there’s no relationship between us [him and Arne Slot]. It was a very good relationship and now all of a sudden there is no relationship.”
