Taking to social media after the announcement, made by presenters Ant and Dec, United’s official X account wrote: “King of the Jungle. Well played, Ginge – you’ve done yourself and your family proud.”

Darts player Littler shared four pictures of Ginge supporting him, along with a message that read: “King of the jungle right hereeeeee. Never in doubt brotherrrrr @angryginge13.

Speaking after his win, Ginge said: “I don’t think I can swear, but I feel amazing.

“Honestly, a dream come true. I didn’t think I could go all this way never mind win. Thank you to everyone who voted.”

Speaking before he was crowned, during the final, Ginge opened up about his experience in the jungle. “It was a lot harder than I thought it’d be,” he said.

“I’d reached out to people before I went in to get some advice, but nobody warned me about what I was about to go through. No one said it was going to be that hard.”

He added: “That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and was a real mental test.

“There were so many times I wanted to throw the towel in.”
