Jamie Carragher has taken yet more shots at Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool forward was left at home by Arne Slot for the club’s Champions League game against Inter Milan
Jamie Carragher has continued his campaign against Mohamed Salah by calling out his social media post ahead of Liverpool’s game against Inter Milan. Salah was dropped from the squad to travel to northern Italy for Tuesday’s Champions League game after his explosive comments about Arne Slot at Elland Road.
The Egyptian star trained with his team-mates on Merseyside on Monday before the Liverpool hierarchy made the decision to leave him at home. It came after he accused Slot of throwing him under the bus and the club of trying to scapegoat him and force him out.
Salah namechecked Carragher as one of the pundits he feels have been unfair in their criticism of him this season. And the former Liverpool defender used his appearance on Monday Night Football to fire back in an eight-minute rant against the 33-year-old forward.
Their beef continued on Tuesday as Salah posted a photograph of himself in an empty gym at the Liverpool training ground. In response, Carragher posted on X: “I’m not sure I’ve wanted Liverpool to win a game more than tonight for a long time! Come you mighty [Reds]”.

Speaking on CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage, Carragher then went further. “I’m desperate for them to get a win tonight,” he said. “Obviously I had my say on it last night and I don’t want to revisit that. But I was a bit frustrated when I saw that post today.”
Asked what was wrong with it, he replied: “He doesn’t mention Liverpool tonight playing in a game. Liverpool are playing a big game tonight that’s more important in San Siro and they need to get a result because of the result they had last time against PSV, when Mo Salah was playing.
“So if you put a comment like ‘good luck to the lads tonight’… He may not have meant it, I don’t know. But Liverpool have got a huge game tonight and he puts out a social media post like that – and he hasn’t posted for six weeks, so I’m told. I don’t follow Mo Salah, for obvious reasons!”
Asked if Salah had removed him as a follower, Carragher said: “Probably. But in the last six weeks, Liverpool have been going through one of the worst runs since the 1950s. He hasn’t posted then, to come out in support of the manager, the club, the team or give any sort of hope going forward for the supporters. He does it this morning about himself.”
Liverpool have yet to make a decision on whether Salah will feature in their Premier League game against Brighton on Saturday after he started the last three league fixtures on the bench. He is due to head off for international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations next week.
