Celtic suffered a fourth consecutive defeat to see more pressure put on new manager Wilfried Nancy
Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy is seemingly under increased pressure after yet another defeat. The Scottish Premiership giants suffered a 2-1 defeat to Dundee United in the league on Wednesday night.
The defeat leaves Celtic in second place in the Scottish Premiership standings and six points behind leaders Hearts in the table, with a game in hand.
Daizen Maeda had put Celtic in front before Krisztian Keresztes equalised for Dundee United at Tannadice Park, only for the home side to get another goal through Zac Sapsford to hand the Bhoys yet another defeat.
Celtic have also lost all of their last four matches across all competitions, including a Europa League tie against Roma and the Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren at the weekend. This is the first time Celtic have lost four consecutive games since 1978.

Nancy’s side were also beaten by league leaders Hearts in the Scottish top-flight fixture earlier this month, in what was the Celtic manager’s first official game in charge since being appointed as Brendan Rodgers ‘ long-term replacement.
Martin O’Neill had been appointed as Celtic’s interim boss while the club hierarchy named Nancy as their new manager.
However, just two weeks after Nancy was confirmed as the new Celtic manager, the 48-year-old’s time with the Glasgow club could be on the verge of an early end.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has given his verdict on Nancy’s tenure so far, pointing towards the club’s business in the summer transfer window as a reason behind the recent run of poor form.
“After that [Daizen] Maeda miss you just wonder if it’s not meant to be for Wilfried Nancy,” Sutton wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Bottom line is it’s more the substandard players than the manager, it all goes back to a poor summer.
“Celtic look like a 3rd place team at present, well done to Jim Goodwin and Dundee United.”
Some Celtic fans also took to social media to express their frustration. One fan wrote on X: “Nancy has to go tonight”, while another said: “This Wilfried Nancy at Celtic is in running for the worst appointments in football.”
Nancy was asked about his future as Celtic boss in an interview with Sky Sports after the defeat to Dundee United. The former Columbus Crew manager was quizzed if Celtic ‘may not be the right place for him’, to which Nancy quickly answered: “No. Come on!
“I know the situation. Everyone wants to win, me too. I know that there are improvements. Context, just step back and have a look about the context.
“The idea is to see what we can do, we can do to improve the team and improve the players. I think I am in a good direction with the players.
“We had a good performance, but in three minutes, we lost the game. That is factual and that is the situation.
“Now, I can understand the fans are not happy with me, I understand that. I want to have a connection with them. It is difficult at the moment because we didn’t win.
“I understand that but if I look at the performances we are getting there. I am happy to be here and I am going to do everything to help the team win games.”
