Set to launch in 2027, the new World Tour will bring the T100 Triathlon World Tour, World Triathlon Championship Series and World Triathlon Cups all under one unified banner.

The world of elite triathlon is set for a fresh new look after the unveiling of the new Triathlon World Tour. Set to launch in 2027, the new World Tour will bring the T100 Triathlon World Tour, World Triathlon Championship Series and World Triathlon Cups all under one unified banner.

The World Triathlon Championship Series will be rebranded to the T50 World Championship Series following the recent success of the T100 version, which consists of a multi-stop global tour and final. The World Tour will also incorporate a new Challenger level of competition for emerging athletes and will host around 100 events per year across the different disciplines.

“Announcing this new blueprint for the sport is an incredibly exciting next phase of our partnership with World Triathlon and to grow the sport,” said Professional Triathletes Organisation CEO Sam Renouf. “The new Triathlon World Tour and its respective T100, T50 and Challenger products, will mean there is a single brand and competition structure that helps fans, media, sponsors and other stakeholders to more clearly understand the offering.”

The rebrand comes following consultancy work done by Deloitte into the future of triathlon, with key findings highlighting the need to unify the fragmented layers of the triathlon world, which also include events such as IRONMAN. The belief is that the Triathlon World Tour will help create a more compelling and easier to follow format for athletes and fans.

“World Triathlon’s Deloitte report made it very clear that our sport has enormous potential, but that we must adapt to an increasingly competitive market if we want to unlock it,” said World Triathlon President, Antonio Arimany. “Our successful collaboration with the T100 Tour has already shown what is possible in terms of event delivery, broadcast audiences and commercial interest

This next step is therefore a natural evolution, and we are genuinely excited about what it will mean for the future of triathlon and para triathlon when we unveil the full Triathlon World Tour early next year.” The T100 Triathlon World Tour enjoyed the finale of its 2025 season in Qatar in December, where Kate Waugh and Hayden Wilde were crowned world champions.

Both athletes went into the final race in Lusail as the event leader and duly produced winning performances to seal their first titles. The final in Qatar followed eight races around the world, from Wollongong to London, with athletes accumulating points based on how they performed.

The event has finished just its second year following its launch in 2024 but has already gained praise from athletes for its events and increased prize money. It has already led to increases in prize money at other triathlon events, and British triathlete Sam Dickinson believes there is more to come.

“[T100] has changed the game,” he said. “It has come in and taken some swings. It has taken a beating every now and again as people love to do with something that’s new on the scene. As an athlete it has been the best I have ever been looked after, pre-race and post-race.

There are some teething issues because it’s new, it’s trying to find new venues and attract new age-group crowds but it will get there. We need to stick at it, give it some time and with the funding it has brought into the sport, it has raised the bar for all athletes and made other organisations up their game too. For me, T100 has been fantastic for the sport.”
