The Brit is due to face Jake Paul in a money-spinning bout in Miami before attention turns to tougher assignments

Eddie Hearn has revealed Anthony Joshua’s next fight after the British boxer’s money-spinning heavyweight bout against former YouTuber Jake Paul.

The eyes of millions will be focused on Miami’s Kaseya Centre this weekend when the two-time heavyweight champion of the world and former Olympic gold medallist enters the ring to face Paul, an American content creator turned professional boxer.

The scrap has been sanctioned as a professional fight with reports indicating that the pair are set to evenly split a chunky purse of around £140m, with the dust-up streamed exclusively on Netflix.

But attention is already moving onto Joshua’s next rumble – and a long-awaited blockbuster showdown against multiple world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is rumoured to be in the offing.

Joshua, now 36, has not fought since a demoralising fifth-round knockout defeat by fellow Brit Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2024, with many viewing AJ’s lucrative clash with Paul as a pipe-opener before a return to the heavyweight scene.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that a fight against Fury could be on the cards. Speaking to talkSPORT, Hearn said: “Next year, we will fight in February, and then we will fight Tyson Fury if Turki Al-Sheikh [the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority] delivers on his plans and strategies.

“We spoke with him in London this week. Everything that we do with Anthony Joshua will be in accordance with and under the guidance of Turki Al-Sheikh. He has given us amazing opportunities. And the game plan will be put together with him.

“It’s Turki Al-Sheikh’s responsibility to talk to Tyson Fury and try and make the deal. I can’t tell you we’re fighting Tyson Fury. What I can tell you is Turki Al-Sheikh has told us, ‘I am going to make AJ V Tyson Fury. This is your deal. Do you accept?’

“We have accepted. Is the fight made? No, because I don’t know where he’s at with Tyson Fury. All I know is he’s yet to fail in delivering a fight.”

According to the Press Association, there is growing confidence that a fight between the pair will take place in 2026 as part of Riyadh Season, a series of sporting and entertainment events held in the Saudi capital each year.

Watford-born Joshua has 25 knockout wins under his belt and has suffered just four defeats throughout his professional career, including two to current undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk. The ‘Gypsy King’ has also lost twice to the Ukrainian.
