The ‘Problem Child’ was brutally beaten by the former two-time heavyweight champion in their professional showdown in Miami on Friday night
Jake Paul has driven himself to the hospital after he claimed to have suffered a broken jaw following his brutal sixth-round knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua on Friday night.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer was expected to get demolished early doors in his Miami melee with the former two-time heavyweight world champion. From the off, it looked it was going to be a long night at the office for Joshua, as Paul made full use of the bigger ring.
‘AJ’ was left frustrated after he missed several jabs as well as looping punches in the opening stages. Paul had some slight success coming in, but nothing ever troubled the heavyweight behemoth. Eventually, the Brit bit down on his gumshield and went to work, dropping his adversary down twice in the fifth before scoring a sixth-round TKO.
Joshua will no doubt be embarrassed by his display having gone over five rounds with the boxing novice. Paul, though, was proud of his efforts in the ring, but revealed his foe had inflicted some serious damage in the fight. “That was crazy, I had a blast, I’m blessed by God to put on a performance like this. Anthony is a great fighter, I got my arse beat. But I’ll come back and keep winning,” Paul said just seconds after spitting blood onto the ring.

“I’ve already won in every single way in life, my family, my jaw is broken by the way, it’s definitely broke, nice little a** whooping from one of the best to ever do it. Honestly, I’m not surprised, I just got tired, so much handling his weight, I think with better cardio, I could’ve kept fighting. I did my personal best. Oh, for sure, we’ll heal the broken jaw, go back, fight people my own weight and go for the cruiserweight world title.”
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian provided an update on Paul’s current health condition, admitting that the American was en route to the hospital. “We think he broke his jaw,” he began. “He’s fine. We met with Netflix afterwards. He took a shower. He drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw is common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA, and I think the recovery time is four to six weeks.”
After an active few years in the ring, Paul admitted he will take some time away from the ring before figuring out his next move. Joshua, meanwhile, seemingly has eyes on one man. The British star was pleased to dust off some cobwebs, despite the two fighters being booed throughout by fans watching in the arena.
Merely minutes of the showcase, Joshua was quick to issue his next challenge after calling for an all-British heavyweight showdown with long-time rival Tyson Fury. “And if Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on some gloves and come out and fight one of the realest fighters that will take on any challenge. Step in the ring with me next if you are a real bad boy. Don’t do all of that talking ‘AJ this, AJ that.’ Let’s see you in the ring and talk with your fists,” he said.
Joshua’s promoter was also quick to weigh in on what’s next for his star client, stating: “Listen, we want the Tyson Fury fight, of course. That’s the fight. it’s the biggest fight in boxing. And respect to that man as well, he did a great job tonight. Good rounds in the bank for Anthony Joshua. 2026, back to the real business… Tyson Fury in the world heavyweight championship.”
