The January transfer window is just around the corner with Manchester United linked with several transfers.
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to support manager Ruben Amorim in the January transfer window, with a particular focus on bolstering the midfield. Both permanent and loan deals are said to be on the cards.
United, along with their rivals, have the opportunity to enhance their squads when the mid-season window opens in just a few days. Clubs will have the entirety of January to finalise both incoming and outgoing transfers.
United have been linked with several potential signings, with the central midfield identified as an area for reinforcement. Names in the mix include Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

The Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) have previously hampered United’s transfer ambitions, meaning player sales were needed before any new arrivals. However, recent reports suggest this may not be a stumbling block this time around.
According to the Daily Mail, PSR is ‘no longer thought to be an issue. ‘ The report goes on to say that the club are ‘ready to act’ if the right opportunity to secure a signing, either on loan or permanently, presents itself.
However, it’s reported that the club won’t do ‘anything silly’ in terms of acquisitions. But there is optimism that any new additions will prove successful.
Injuries to Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo have worsened the mounting crisis in midfield. The former picked up a hamstring problem during the defeat against Aston Villa and there’s no clear timeframe for his return, whilst Mainoo is anticipated to be sidelined for even longer than the club captain.
Discussing potential signings to address the situation, Amorim explained: “We will only try to bring players that we think are going to be the future. It’s not going to be to save something in this moment.
“Even if we try to bring one player, maybe it’s not the position that we need more. We will try to bring now, and [at] the end of the season, players that are perfect for our future.
“So, I don’t know what is going to happen, but it is possible that we can do something.”
United have also been linked with Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo. However, recent reports indicate that rivals Manchester City are frontrunners in the race for his signature.
The striker has a £65 million release clause written into his deal, which becomes active during the opening 10 days of the January transfer window.
The cut-off point for clubs to finalise their dealings is 7pm on Monday, 2 February. The window opens on Thursday, 1 January.
