Pressure is mounting on Wilfried Nancy after winning just two of his eight matches in charge of Celtic, with the Scottish champions weighing up potential replacements following their Rangers defeat

Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy appears to be on the brink of dismissal just a month after stepping into Brendan Rodgers‘ shoes. The ex-Columbus Crew chief has had a torrid start to his tenure, managing only two victories in eight matches and suffering six losses.

A humbling defeat to St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup final was a low point, but things took a turn for the worse this Saturday. The reigning Scottish champions were dismantled by Rangers, who overturned a one-goal deficit to clinch a 3-1 victory at Parkhead.

As the match neared its end, thousands of seats were left vacant and loud boos echoed around the stadium at the final whistle, leaving Nancy teetering on the edge of dismissal.

If he is shown the door, Celtic would face the daunting task of appointing their third permanent manager this season. The Mirror takes a look at four potential successors if Nancy is given his marching orders…

Ange Postecoglou

Postecoglou seems like the natural choice, having previously enjoyed a successful stint in Glasgow before moving to Tottenham.

He was let go by the north London club despite winning the Europa League and subsequently managed Nottingham Forest, where he lasted just over a month before departing the City Ground.

Currently without a club, Postecoglou would likely leap at the opportunity to return to Celtic, a move that could inject some much-needed positivity into the club.

Ralph Hasenhuttl

The ex-Southampton manager is currently without a club, which means Celtic could secure his services without having to shell out any compensation.

He was given the boot by Wolfsburg earlier this year after failing to ignite their Bundesliga campaign, but he might find the Scottish Premiership more to his liking.

Hasenhuttl, with his impressive track record from his Southampton days, would bring an attacking style of play that could help Celtic regain their dominance and start racking up points again.

Gary O’Neil

O’Neil is another name that could be in the mix for the Celtic job, having been linked with the position following Rodgers’ departure earlier this season.

He had a decent spell at Bournemouth but found the going tough at Wolves, where he was dismissed with the team languishing in the Premier League’s drop zone.

However, O’Neil could pique Celtic’s interest as the Glasgow titans seek someone who can stabilise the team and chip away at Hearts’ lead.

Kieran McKenna

McKenna could be a bold target for the Hoops, though prising him away won’t come cheap.

It’s understood that he’s pocketing around £5million per year at Ipswich Town, and a hefty break clause was reportedly included in the contract extension he inked in 2024.

In terms of football alone, McKenna might be the ideal match for Celtic, but with Ipswich keen on a swift return to the Premier League, it seems doubtful they’ll secure him. Celtic have four options to replace Wilfried Nancy after Rangers humiliation
