One of the biggest games in the football calendar will take place today as Manchester United face local rivals Manchester City. The Red Devils host their Blue neighbours in the second Manchester Derby of the season as they continue their fight for European football.

Michael Carrick has been thrown in at the deep end as he goes up against Pep Guardiola in his first game since being appointed Man United head coach on Tuesday. The caretaker manager stepped back into the role following the sacking of Ruben Amorim earlier this month.

The club has said Carrick will lead Man United for the remainder of the season before a permanent manager is appointed. It comes as the Reds were knocked out of the FA Cup in the Third Round on Sunday in a 2-1 defeat to Brighton, with the club currently seventh in the Premier League.

Man City suffered a mixed start to the year, dropping points in their last three league fixtures that’s left them six points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal and level with Aston Villa. City beat United 3-0 when the two sides last met in September, so Man United fans will be hoping for a ‘new manager bounce’ this time around.

Speaking to the club on his new role, Carrick said: “Having the responsibility to lead Manchester United is an honour. I know what it takes to succeed here; my focus is now on helping the players to reach the standards that we expect at this incredible club, which we know that this group is more than capable of producing.

“I have worked with a number of the players already and have obviously continued to watch the team closely in recent years, I have total belief in their talents, dedication and ability to be successful here. There is still a lot to fight for this season, we are ready to pull everyone together and give the fans the performances that their loyal support deserves.”

Here’s when and how to watch Man United vs Man City in the UK.

When does Man United vs Man City kick-off?

Man United vs Man City is due to kick off at 12.30pm on Saturday, January 17.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more.

How to watch Man United vs Man City

Man United vs Man City will broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League, which means fans will need a Sky Sports subscription to watch the game. This now starts at £35 Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, which comes with full Sky Sports coverage, around 100 regular channels and free subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

Customers can also add a discounted TNT Sports subscription for £25 rather than the usual £30.99 charged by TNT Sports direct. A caveat to Sky’s deals is that to get these prices means committing to a 24-month contract, with Sky stating the prices may increase each April.

Elsewhere, Virgin Media’s £54.99 Sport bundle also includes Sky Sports channels, as well as hundreds of regular channels, Netflix and 362Mbps fibre broadband. A catch here is that the package will rise to £58.99 from April 2026 and £62.99 from April 2027.
