Savannah Guthrie is going on the record about her divorce.
When Hoda Kotb asked the Today Show anchor what the most difficult time in her life was, Savannah opened up about her 2009 split from ex-husband Mark Orchard after four years of marriage.
“Probably the most difficult time was when I was getting separated and divorced from my first husband,” Savannah, 54, shared on the Jan. 21 episode of Joy Rides. “I was in my 30s. I felt old, but I now see that I was pretty young, and I was sad about it.”
She added, “And I was also starting a new job at a place called NBC and trying really hard to make my way and make my little dream come true while other dreams were falling apart. And it made me have to really dig deep, and I felt like a failure.”
The Emmy-winning journalist—who shares kids Vale, 11, and Charley, 9, with husband Michael Feldman, with whom she tied the knot in 2014—also shared how the dark period in her life enabled her to strengthen her faith.
