The fitness and bodybuilding community are currently mourning the death of former world champion Jason Lowe, who has passed away at the age of 38

Bodybuilding world champion and icon Jason Lowe has died at the age of 38 years old. The tragic news of Lowe’s death was confirmed by his wife Ashley in a heartwrenching social media post.

She announced his passing by uploading a series of photos from their time together. Lowe, who was nicknamed ‘Broku’ was known for his enormous frame and breath-taking physique, which earned him global recognition and fame within the fitness and bodybuilding worlds.

He made himself known in various competitions between 2015 and 2022, according to the National Physique Committee. However, on January 22, news of his death was uploaded to social media by his heart-broken wife.

Ashley uploaded a series of pictures of them together and wrote: “Today will be the hardest day of my life. I don’t know if words will ever be enough to hold what you meant to me, because they all feel so small in comparison.

“You made me a better version of myself, and you were going to be the absolute best dad. Saying that I’m devastated doesn’t even begin to touch the depth of this loss.

“I’m sitting here in our backyard writing this in your Olympia jacket, trying to feel close to you, trying to make sense of a world that already feels different without you in it.”

It’s been claimed by retired American bodybuilder and former editor of Muscular Development Magazine Dave Palumbo that Lowe was training with a client before he “dropped”. On the Rx Muscle YouTube channel, Palumbo said: “It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that IFBB Pro Jason Lowe has passed.

“The information I’ve had is that he was training in his gym in his garage, training a client, when he dropped. There obviously has not been an autopsy done, so I don’t really want to report a cause of death.

“I’ve heard rumours about blood clots, but until I get confirmation from his family and until they find out what actually happened, I think it would be foolish to speculate. He obviously was in very good health from what I understand.”

Lowe also competed in the iconic Mr Olympia competition on two separate occasions over the course of his career. The Floridian placed 16th in the Men’s Classic Division in his Mr Olympia debut before registering an 11th placed finish in the 212 division the following year.

‘Broku’ also made his presence known in the iconic bodybuilding event ‘the Arnold Classic’ by placing seventh in the Men’s Classic Physique over two appearances. His nickname derives by combing ‘Bro’ with Goku, a character from the Dragon Ball Series.

On Instagram, over 104,000 people followed him and were given an insight into his training and life. A friend of the family has began a GoFundMe page to raise money for his wife and family.

WWE hall of famer Kevin Nash issued his condolences in a social media post, saying: “He was so kind, humble. I won’t forget my friend.”
