Our ace tipster has found the value from the Super Saturday card at Newbury and has four selections including a fancy in the William Hill Hurdle

Make sure you give a Dam about the William Hill Hurdle. This valuable Newbury prize is going to be a real slog this year with the testing ground sure to expose any flaws in the runners.

MILLDAM (3.20) cannot have conditions deep enough. He’s won his last four races on heavy ground and he ran a fine race, despite finding the track too sharp, when fifth behind Hot Fuss at Windsor three weeks ago. He wasn’t ridden as prominently as he usually is and he was forced to use up too much petrol getting into a challenge position before those exertions told in the closing stages.

The demands of this race should suit Jamie Snowden’s hope better and talented 5lbs-claiming conditional jockey Isabelle Ryder rides for the first time. Have 1pt each-way at 18-1. Most bookies are paying out on five places.

Earlier on the card, KOCKTAIL BLEU (1.00) looks overpriced in the opening novices’ hurdle. He chased home smart Baron Noir on good ground at Kempton after failing to stay 2m4f on a much softer surface at Newbury’s big pre-Christmas meeting.

Today’s 2m distance on testing conditions should be perfect for Chris Gordon’s youngster. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1.

The heavy ground will also be ideal for KYNTARA (1.35). He hasn’t had his conditions in three runs this season since returning to hurdles following a spell over fences last year.

His second in the Pertemps Network Final at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival makes him nicely handicapped and he’s at his best when grinding it out from the front.

The ability to handle the ground and stay the distance is going to be key in this race and there are big question marks on those scores against several of the leading contenders. Have 1pt each-way at 9-1.

The Listed bumper closes the card where HALF HOPING (4.30) must have excellent claims. He was touched off by No Walkover, another of today’s runners, on his debut at Chepstow before easily winning at Fontwell on Boxing Day.

There should be more to come from this well-bred five-year-old and his victory over Christmas came over slightly further, so he should not fail for lack of stamina. His trainer Nick Gifford also has his team in good form. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1.
