Roy Keane slams Man Utd as Mohamed Salah gives Virgil van Dijk contract update
Roy Keane has laid into Manchester United after they were thrashed 4-1 by Newcastle, while Mohamed Salah has shared his thoughts on Virgil van Dijk’s future at Liverpool
Following a weekend of enthralling Premier League action there is just one more game to go as Bournemouth host Fulham this evening and both sides will be hoping for a strong finish to the campaign.
They both still have a chance of qualifying for Europe next season and tonight’s clash could prove hugely important. On Sunday, Liverpool took one step closer to the title as they capitalised on Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brentford by beating West Ham 2-1.
Manchester United, meanwhile, were thrashed 4-1 by Newcastle and Tottenham’s struggles continued as they lost 4-2 to Wolves. Both United and Spurs have endured awful campaigns and their only hopes of salvaging something comes in the Europa League.
They could qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the tournament and are fully focused on their quarter-final clashes, which are both finely poised after the first-legs were drawn last week.

Keane slams Man Utd
Former United captain Roy Keane laid into the Red Devils following their defeat to Newcastle, branding the squad “physically and mentally weak”. Keane told Sky Sports: “That’s 14 league games they’ve lost now. We keep making excuses for this team.
“There are not enough players who can run in the team. I don’t think there are players who want to run. Not enough of a goal threat. You’ve got to dig deep, even when you’re up against it and they didn’t do that in the second half.
“We spoke at half-time [about] the big test was to come in the second half. Looking at Newcastle, they’re outstanding, they’re used to winning big games now, they’ve got into a really good habit. United are the opposite. I think United now are physically and mentally a weak team.”
Salah shares Van Dijk update
Mohamed Salah has suggested that a new contract for Virgil van Dijk could be announced soon. Salah has extended his stay at Anfield by signing a new two-year deal and, after helping Liverpool beat West Ham, he dropped a hint about Van Dijk’s future.
“I am glad that we managed to do that early, before the end of the season,” he told Sky Sports. “And hopefully also Virgil will be next. I just say hopefully! I’m just saying. Look, he can do whatever he wants but I would love to see him here again next season. But of course, he can choose do do whatever he wants.”
Van Dijk, though, refused to give anything away as he responded: “I can say I am very proud today to captain my 100th game for Liverpool. And it was an emotional day, because obviously it was the Hillsborough anniversary so that was the main focus – get three points and get a step closer towards all of our dreams.”
De Bruyne drops transfer hint
Kevin De Bruyne has admitted he is open to joining another Premier League club after he leaves Manchester City in the summer. “I still think I am able to perform on the highest level,” De Bruyne told Viaplay.
“I don’t know what teams are interested or what they want to do. Whatever project [is] available – I am willing to listen. I love football, I love to play football and if a nice project comes and my family is also good with that, we will be able to make a decision.”
And when asked if his career in England would be over, De Bruyne replied: “I don’t know. Honestly I don’t know. The decision to leave has not been long. Nothing can be decided in one week in the football world. I haven’t seen my family since the decision. I have to speak to them and then I will see whichever team wants me. So I don’t know. I have no idea.”
