A round-up of Chelsea news as Enzo maresca’s side are fined by the FA and two players contracted to the Blues are the subject of new transfer claims
Chelsea may have concluded their summer transfer business, but fresh claims are still being made about players on the club’s books. Manager Enzo Maresca has been tasked with integrating his new signings, but several players under contract at Chelsea intend to move on in the near future.
With a bloated squad following several very active transfer windows in recent years, several players had been linked with leaving Stamford Bridge over the summer. However, some were unable to secure permanent departures, with others not even finding a suitable club to take them on loan for the season.
It means stars such as Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling are yet to fully secure their futures and both are likely to be sold in 2026. Updates appear to have now emerged over both players, though that could have huge implications for Enzo Maresca as he looks to mould his squad.
On the pitch, Chelsea got back to winning ways against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday. However, the Blues had to work hard to secure their place in the next round as they bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend – and yet again things did not go entirely according to plan.
Chelsea’s immediate focus will now turn to their home game against Brighton on Saturday. Here, Mirror Football takes a closer look at the news surrounding the Blues.

Nicolas Jackson reaches ‘agreement’ with Bayern Munich
Nicolas Jackson finalised his move to Bayern on deadline day, with Chelsea including a possible £56.25m obligation to buy. That clause would be triggered if Jackson makes 40 starts for the club this season, with Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness dismissing the idea, given Harry Kane ’s status as the club’s first-choice striker.
However, Bild reports that Bayern have already agreed a five-year contract with Jackson due to the club’s belief in the striker. It is suggested that Bayern may pay the £52.5m fee at the end of the season, even if the appearance clause is not met, to avoid rival clubs signing the Chelsea forward.
Alternatively, the German club could look to renegotiate the price with Chelsea following their agreement with Jackson. The 24-year-old has featured three times for Bayern so far this season, including facing his parent club as a late substitute in the Champions League.
Chelsea receive FA fine
The FA have fined Chelsea due to their disciplinary record against Manchester United last Saturday. The Daily Mail reports that the club will be forced to pay the FA £25,000 after receiving six cards
The Blues endured a nightmare start at Old Trafford as goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off for a foul on Bryan Mbeumo just five minutes into the game. Maresca’s side struggled to cope after going a man down, falling 2-0 behind to United before Casemiro’s second yellow card evened up the numbers just before half-time.
Unlike their opponents, though, Chelsea saw a further five players receive cards during the match. Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Enzo Fernandez, Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George were all booked, resulting in Chelsea being fined.
Raheem Sterling transfer details emerge
Raheem Sterling finds himself frozen out of Chelsea’s first team plans after failing to find a move during the summer transfer window. The forward spent last season on loan at Arsenal, making 13 starts in 28 appearances.
The Athletic has revealed that Sterling was the subject of late interest from Bayern Munich, who are managed by his former Manchester City teammate Vincent Kompany, but the 30-year-old was reluctant to accept the transfer. Sterling is claimed to have been unwilling to agree to a late move, as he had done with Arsenal, and did not want to move his family to Germany or leave them for the season.
The Chelsea star was keen to remain in the capital, but any interest from other London clubs did not lead to formal talks. Sterling was raised as a possibility during Bayern’s negotiations over a move for Jackson.
Ahead of facing Chelsea earlier this month, Bayern boss Kompany said of Sterling: “The only thing I can hope at this age, because he’s still at a good age, is that he can turn it around and show the whole world what his quality is and eventually be in a situation where everything fits for him and he fits for where he is, and hopefully that can happen sometime soon for him and I wish him all the best.”
