Paul Scholes raises Arne Slot suspicions and makes very harsh Mo Salah comment
Manchester United icon Paul Scholes has joined the critics dissecting Mohamed Salah’s performances for Liverpool after their downturn in form and labelled Arne Slot ‘tetchy’
Paul Scholes has described some of Mohamed Salah’s play as ‘the worst stuff’ he has seen amid Liverpool‘s struggles. The former Manchester United star also suspects that Arne Slot‘s patience is starting to wear thin after a poor run of results.
Several Liverpool stars have come in for criticism in recent weeks, but none more so than Salah. The Egyptian has been far from his brilliant best this season and looks a shadow of the player who guided Slot to the Premier League title in his debut season.
Salah’s struggles have coincided with the defending champions’ woes, which have been compounded by a run of three straight defeats. As a result of their recent downturn in form, fingers and criticism are being pointed at Liverpool, with the 33-year-old becoming the topic of conversation.
Wayne Rooney slammed the forward for his role in Chelsea’s winning goal on Saturday evening, and now Scholes has had his say. The United icon did not hold back as he had some harsh words for Salah as he dissected the Liverpool man’s woes.

“He’s still playing in the same position, just seems to be making the wrong decision more often than not,” he said on his ‘The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast’. “If you look last year, he scored lots of goals but a lot of the time he’s cutting in from the right and playing some great balls into people, there were some instances of that on Saturday.
“He’s cutting inside and ballooning the ball over the bar. II think he is one of them though.
“I think he’s every time you watch him, even when he’s been brilliant, he does some of the worst stuff on a football pitch, you know what I mean?
“Like it’ll bounce off his leg or bounce off his knee and miscontrol it and then all of a sudden he’ll…looks like the best player in the world.
“At the minute. He’s just struggling to find them best bits.”
The Reds head coach is facing his toughest spell since succeeding Jurgen Klopp after the defeat at Chelsea, which was their third straight defeat.
The last time they suffered back-to-back defeats, prior to the win for Galatasaray in midweek, was in March when they lost to Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
They had went three games without a win at the end of last season but they’d already wrapped up the Premier League by then.
And the former United midfield general feels that the pressure is becoming visible on the Liverpool head coach.
Scholes added: “Arne Slot is getting a bit tetchy as well, don’t you think? He’s moaning to the fourth official, he’s getting a bit tetchy. Come on, you’re going to lose a couple of games, last season it didn’t really happen.”
Liverpool sit second in the table after Arsenal continued their winning run, with a 2-0 win over West Ham United. Panic has seemingly set in with a fraction of the fanbase speculating as to whether the Premier League title race is over.
Though the enforced break for the forthcoming international fixtures may be a welcome one for Slot as he will be allowed to go back to the drawing board and look for solutions to their woes.
After their summer splurge that saw Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike enter the fray, many have highlighted the lack of balance within the squad.
The Dutchman followed calls to drop Wirtz from the starting XI against Chelsea, but the problems persisted, and when the German was introduced at half-time, he showed glimpses of quality and what’s to come, while Isak provided an assist for Cody Gakpo.
Salah will be hoping to rediscover his form and add to his three goals so far in 10 games across all competitions. He has the opportunity to return to the scoresheet against their foes, Manchester United, a team the 33-year-old has had some joy against in previous encounters.
