Barcelona fans show support for Rashford as Man Utd star makes ‘demands’ point

Marcus Rashford was loaned out by Manchester United to Barcelona during the summer transfer window and the England international has been in fine form for the La Liga side

Barcelona supporters have rallied behind Marcus Rashford following his latest standout performance for the club. The Manchester United forward, currently on loan at the La Liga giants, has been making waves since his move from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.

Rashford, who spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at Aston Villa, was rumoured to be considering a permanent departure from United before sealing his temporary switch to Barca.

Since his arrival in Spain, Rashford has netted six times and set up seven goals for his teammates. He added to his goal tally this weekend as Barcelona secured a 3-1 win over Elche in La Liga.

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick decided to substitute Rashford in the 74th minute, bringing on Robert Lewandowski in his place, reports the Manchester Evening News.

As he exited the pitch, Rashford received a warm round of applause from the home crowd at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Following his goal-scoring display against Elche, Rashford opened up about the high standards he sets for himself and his Barcelona teammates.

“I try to give my best. I could have done better against Elche, and I promise to improve because I’m not entirely happy with my performance overall,” Rashford told Mundo Deportivo over the weekend.

He added: “We work hard to win. We’re taking it one game at a time. We need to keep playing as a team. This is Barca, and the demands must always be at their highest.”

Rashford’s next opportunity to impress for Barcelona will be when the Spanish giants face Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

It remains to be seen what the future will hold for Rashford beyond his current loan deal, with speculation swirling about whether or not he will go on to remain at the Camp Nou on a permanent basis.

Rashford’s contract with United is not set to expire until the summer of 2028, and the 28-year-old will be determined to continue his impressive form at Barcelona to earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad at the World Cup next summer.
