Newsboy’s Daily Double plus tips on every race from Monday’s four meetings

Newsboy fancies his nap, Dandy Dinmont, to win at Newcastle and also hopes Final Straw can score at Plumpton and complete his Daily Double
DANDY DINMONT (7.10, Nap) is fancied to land the Midnite Ain’t Your Grandad’s Bookie Handicap at Newcastle on Monday evening. The consistent six-year-old, trained by Nigel Tinkler, has not finished out of the top four in his last five races.
His last victory was at Thirsk in August when beating Uncle Sam by half a length. And last time out, the son of Dandy Man was a close third behind Winter Crown on this course over six furlongs. Today’s minimum trip should suit him just as well and he will have the benefit of jockey Alex Jary taking 3lb off.
At Plumpton, FINAL STRAW (2.50, nb) should take all the beating in the BetGoodwin Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle. The Nicky Henderson (above) trainee improved when stepped up in trip in first-time cheekpieces on his handicap debut at Kempton earlier this month.
Always prominent, the five-year-old made a mistake at the sixth fence but jumped well after that to take the lead two out. He then readily came clear before being eased down to win by two lengths from Hurst Hill. My selection escapes a penalty for that victory as it was a conditionals’ race, and today his amateur rider Daniel Williams takes 7lb off his back.
