Tiger Woods will make his return to competitive golf on Tuesday evening as he prepares for the TGL Finals with Jupiter Links. The 50-year-old has been absent from action since missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.
In the time since, Woods has been recuperating from an Achilles tendon rupture alongside lumbar disc replacement surgery – the seventh back procedure that the California-born star has endured. Nevertheless, he will now step onto the tee at the TGL Finals at Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday as he pursues glory with his side, according to ESPN.
It follows Sahith Theegala recording a birdie on the final hole on Monday to secure Los Angeles Golf Club two points in a 6-5 fightback over Jupiter Links in the opening match of the championship series. The best-of-three format concludes on Tuesday evening, with a second and third match to be contested if required.

It follows widespread speculation in recent weeks over whether Woods will tee-off at the Masters next month when the opening major of the golfing calendar arrives at the iconic greens and fairways of Augusta. Discussing the possibility of playing earlier this month, Woods – who has claimed the tournament five times – said: “I said I’ve been working on it.
“Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun. So as I said, I’ve had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn’t quite heal like it was when I was 24.
“Doesn’t quite bounce back. So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it’s hard to just to move around.”
Meanwhile, the official Masters website has set tongues wagging among golf enthusiasts with an amended biography on Woods’ tournament profile. It reads: “Tiger Woods is making his 27th Masters start in 2026.

“He earned Low Amateur honours in his Augusta National debut in 1995 and then won five times between the ages of 21 and 43. He is one of three to have won the Masters at least four times, with six-time champion Jack Nicklaus and four-time champion Arnold Palmer.
“His Tournament records include his current consecutive cuts made streak of 24. The World Golf Hall of Fame member’s worldwide wins include multiple victories in the PGA Championship, US Open, The Open, Players Championship, Tour Championship, Memorial Tournament and Arnold Palmer Invitational.
“Before turning professional, he won three US Junior Amateurs and three U.S. Amateurs and represented the United States in the Walker Cup and Eisenhower Trophy.”
However, whether Woods will deem himself fit enough to compete in the Masters is another matter entirely, given that he’s been sidelined for a year and a half. The last time the 15-time major champion savoured victory at Augusta was back in 2019.
In that tournament, Woods edged out Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele by a solitary stroke at 13 under par. This also represents the most recent major title that the legendary golfer has clinched in his trophy-laden career.
