Wolves fans made their feelings clear during their clash with Manchester United at Molineux, savaging club chief Jeff Shi with a series of chants. Supporters are desperate for owners Fosun to sell up.

Rob Edwards’ side went into the United game rock bottom of the Premier League on just two points after 14 games – the worst start of any side in history.

Many Wolves fans stayed in the concourse until 15 minutes of the game had elapsed in protest at their owners and executive chairman Shi.

When they entered the ground, they made their voices heard with the target of their ire evident. “Jeff Shi is a w*****,” was the first chant to ring around.

“You’ve sold the team, now sell the club,” was then belted out, particularly pertinent with last season’s top goal scorer Matheus Cunha lining up for the opposition.

Several bursts of “we want Fosun out” were also sung. Wolves’ fans mood didn’t improve when Bruno Fernandes put United ahead in calamitous fashion.

Andre was casual in giving the ball away to Casemiro who then fed Cunha. The Brazilian was unselfish on his first return to Molineux, instead picking out Fernandes, but he slipped.

However, the United skipper regained his footing and shrugged off Emmanuel Agbadou before firing past Sam Johnstone, who got a big piece of the ball before it trickled into the goal.

Wolves fans booed the passage of play, this time directing chants at the field of play rather than the directors’ box.

“What the f***ing hell was that,” rang round the home stands. “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” quickly followed.

United would move into the top six with a victory, level on points with Chelsea in fifth and just a point behind fourth-placed Crystal Palace.

Defeat would leave Wolves marooned to bottom spot and a mammoth 13 points behind Nottingham Forest who occupy 17th position.
