Alejandro Garnacho makes Ruben Amorim feelings very clear after Man Utd sacking
Alejandro Garnacho was frozen out by Ruben Amorim at Manchester United before leaving for Chelsea in the summer and the Argentina international has now reacted to his sacking
Alejandro Garnacho has liked a post on social media detailing Ruben Amorim’s sacking at Manchester United. Amorim has been dismissed as United manager following an explosive rant in a post-match press conference after drawing 1-1 at Leeds on Sunday.
United released a statement on Monday morning to explain that the Portuguese boss had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect, with under-18s coach Darren Fletcher taking over as interim manager. It read: “Ruben Amorim has departed his role as Head Coach of Manchester United. Ruben was appointed in November 2024 and led the team to a UEFA Europa League Final in Bilbao in May.
“With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club’s leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.
“The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future. Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team against Burnley on Wednesday.”

The news appeared to be received well by Garnacho, who left United in a £40million transfer for Chelsea in the summer following a major falling out with Amorim. The winger liked an Instagram post by reporter Fabrizio Romano detailing the breaking news.
The 21-year-old fell out with the former United boss at the end of last season, having reacted furiously to being left on the bench for the Europa League final. He was left out of the squad for United’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the season and told he was not in Amorim’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign.
Garnacho was placed in the ‘bomb squad’ along with fellow unwanted players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia and eventually left for Stamford Bridge.
He had joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and contributed 26 goals and 22 assists in 144 appearances after progressing through the academy. So far, he has contributed four goals and three assists in 20 games for Chelsea, who have also recently undergone a change in management.
Garnacho was signed by Enzo Maresca in the summer but was sacked on New Year’s Day following a similar fallout to the one at United. He is expected to be replaced by Liam Rosenior after the Strasbourg manager flew into London from France on Sunday.
