Crystal Palace ponder Frank Lampard swoop as club chiefs learn compensation fee
Coventry boss Frank Lampard is on Crystal Palace’s radar as they eye up their next manager with Oliver Glasner leaving Selhurst Park once the season ends
Crystal Palace have Frank Lampard on their shortlist of managers – which includes up to six names as they prepare to replace Oliver Glasner.
The Eagles have known that the Austrian was leaving at the end of the season for months and Lampard’s stellar work at Coventry, whom he has led to the Championship title, has him in the frame. The likelihood of him leaving following promotion seems slim, but the south Londoners still retain an interest.
Lampard has worked in the Premier League previously with Chelsea and Everton and is no doubt relishing another chance to prove himself at the highest level.
Any move away from Coventry would require a compensation fee of around £5million, but it would be a shock were he to leave. Fulham are also keeping tabs on Lampard with Marco Silva out of contract in a matter of weeks, reports The Independent.
The lure of the Palace job will be determined by their success in the Europa Conference League. Victory in that competition would see them land a spot in next season’s Europa League, thus giving them greater scope to invest in their squad given the European revenue.

Kieran McKenna is another Championship manager who could yet be a top flight boss next season if Ipswich secure promotion – and he too is on Palace’s radar. McKenna has had four full terms with the Tractor Boys and will no doubt be better off from his experience last season, when Ipswich were relegated, but his compensation package stands at £8m.
Andoni Iraola has confirmed he will leave Bournemouth after three impressive years but is weighing up other options, one of which is Chelsea, who too are looking for a permanent manager. He has previously been on the radar of the Selhurst Park hierarchy.
Glasner scaled new heights with Palace, helping them win the FA Cup last season before backing that up with a victory over Liverpool in the Community Shield. He became increasingly vocal about the club’s lack of investment off the back of those successes however.
Eberechi Eze was sold in the summer, leaving for Arsenal, and Glasner went public with his desire to keep Marc Guehi, who was in talks with Liverpool. The club held firm until January when he was sold to Manchester City and Glasner announced he would leave at season’s end.
