Jeremie Frimpong’s scathing Liverpool assessment after dismal Leeds draw
Liverpool were held to a less than inspiring 0-0 draw by newly-promoted Leeds at Anfield on Thursday night and Jeremie Frimpong had some home truths for his Reds teammates come the final whistle
Liverpool star Jeremie Frimpong admitted his side ‘didn’t try hard enough’ in their woeful draw with Leeds. The Reds stumbled to a 0-0 draw against the Yorkshire side at Anfield on Thursday evening.
Arne Slot’s side struggled to create any real chances of note throughout the game – and were somewhat fortunate to have escaped with even a point. Leeds had a number of presentable opportunities, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin also had a second-half goal ruled out by the linesman’s flag.
Speaking after the full-time whistle, summer signing Frimpong admitted that Liverpool did not do enough to claim victory.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutchman said: “Frustrating – we wanted to win the game. They defended well. At the end of the day, 0-0 very frustrating, but onto the next game.
“They defended really well. Obviously we tried, but we didn’t try hard enough. We had a couple [of chances], I had a couple I think I should have delivered the ball better.

“Training, recover, we know what we can do. We have created a lot of chances. We need to go into the next game and do what we need to do but better. We know what we should do, we know the movements and we know the patterns.”
The draw against Leeds sees Liverpool extend their inconsistent form. They now sit fourth in the Premier League but six points behind Aston Villa.
Arne Slot gave his verdict after the game and claimed that Liverpool’s downfall came from their inability to create chances. He said: “Different because last time we conceded in extra-time, but the end result of both games is a draw and that’s a disappointment.

“Not the first time this season, from all the ball possession we have, we do generate chances, but I don’t think it is enough or maybe it should be enough if you look at the xG, but we should be able to create more.
“We were very close with Virgil, but we didn’t and this season multiple times we have conceded a goal in a game like this and that’s a positive thing today. We kept a clean sheet and that’s why we have a draw today.”
Liverpool are back in action this weekend as they travel to Craven Cottage for a showdown with Fulham. They then take on table-topping Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium before turning their attention to the FA Cup and a third round clash with League One side Barnsley.
