Justin Rose’s gymnast wife sparked Rory McIlroy mystery as he eyes £1.2m boost
Justin Rose is closing in on a huge boost to his bank balance
Justin Rose looks set to cash quite the healthy cheque this weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open. The British golfer is currently leading the tournament with a score of -17, with Seamus Power in second, having posted -13.
Unless the 45-year-old endures a mighty capitulation in the last two days of the event, it looks like he’ll earn the 13th PGA Tour title of his career on top of the £1.2million prize money.
Rose’s last victory came in August last year when he won the FedEx St Jude Championships – which saw him become the oldest-ever European winner on the PGA Tour. He did so via a playoff victory against J. J. Spaun just four months after losing in a similar fashion to Rory McIlroy at the Masters.
Both men were fighting for their first Green Jacket but it was the Northern Irishman who came out on top and became just the sixth player ever to complete the career Grand Slam.

Despite the heartbreak of the defeat, Rose was as gracious as ever after McIlroy’s birdie by embracing his friend. It was the third runners-up finish at Augusta for Rose who pocketed a whopping £2million for placing second.

Combining the PGA Tour and European Tour means Rose has earned 23 tournament wins and with that many triumphs come the riches that are available at the highest level of golf.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Rose’s consistent victories means he’s accrued a staggering estimated net worth of around £34m. The wealth he’s been able to build has been done alongside his wife Kate, who he married in 2006 following their long-term relationship.
The pair met in 2000 when she worked at IMG, which was the company that represented her future husband at the time. The couple have two children together – Leo, arrived in 2009, and Lottie, who was born in 2012.
Like her husband, Kate was also an accomplished athlete as she was once an international gymnast before serving on the PGA Tour Wives Association as a board director from 2006 to 2010.
While remaining out of the limelight, aside from supporting Justin on the links, Kate found herself in the centre of controversy, due to McIlroy. It was during the 36-year-old’s Masters celebrations that he was pictured hugging a woman, which led to speculation around who the ‘mystery blonde’ was.
However, the public were soon informed that the woman was in fact Kate Rose and their embrace illustrated just how close the golfers’ families really are. Rose opened up about his improvement in form over the past year and said he remains motivated to win the biggest titles in the sport.
“My job is going to be the same as everybody else’s job – it’s just about who plays well,” he told the Golf Channel. “I felt like last year was a nice step back in the right confidence direction. I felt like finishing runner-up at the Open at Troon in 2024, I felt I played the right way on Sunday and I could have won there if Lady Luck had been on my side.

“The same at the (2025) Masters – the Saturday was the round that killed me there but I played the golf to win that tournament. At the right moments I’ve been feeling my best. I’m chasing goals, I’m chasing Majors, I’m chasing big accomplishments but at the same time I’m trying to chase good memories.”
