Man Utd star confirms January transfer wish as “dream” scenario outlined
Manchester United found themselves in a difficult situation regarding their goalkeeping department in the summer but it appears that the Red Devils have a ready-made number one on their hands
Manchester United star Radek Vitek has revealed his desire to become the club’s number one goalkeeper – but is not ready to return to Old Trafford quite yet. The Czech stopper joined the Red Devils from Sigma Olomouc back in 2020 and he has since earned experience in loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Blau-Weiss Linz.
Vitek, 22, was then given the chance to join Championship side Bristol City on loan for the season this summer. The young goalkeeper has impressed since joining the Robins, keeping five clean sheets in 15 appearances.
United slotted a recall clause into the deal – but Vitek has already stressed that he does NOT want that to be activated in the New Year.
Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, he said: “At the moment the main goal is probably to stay here the whole season and play as many matches as possible.

“Every game brings different challenges and that’s how you get as a young keeper the most experience, because you can be third goalkeeper on the training pitch when you’re at Manchester United or big clubs like that but it will never give you the experience from the field.
“The past three months it’s another step forward for me from last year and there are players with more quality and different solutions in front of goal, so I need to make more quick decisions and be ready.”

While Vitek does not want to return to Old Trafford in the immediate future, he has signalled his desire to become the Red Devils’ starting goalkeeper in the long-term. He added: “That’s my plan but I will do my maximum for that and we will see – let’s take game by game and now I’m focussing to play for Bristol City and do my best.
“One day it would be a dream to play for Manchester United but I take game by game and I know there’s a big challenge in front of me but I want to improve every week.”
Vitek’s admission comes after a mass overhaul of United’s goalkeeping department this summer. Regular number one Andre Onana was loaned out to Turkish side Trabzonspor after a tricky couple of seasons at United.
He was replaced as number one by reserve goalkeeper Atlay Bayindir, albeit the Turkish stopper had a number of error-strewn appearances. He too was then usurped in the pecking order by £18m summer signing Senne Lammens. The Belgian has impressed since arriving from Royal Antwerp. He has made five appearances for United so far, keeping one clean sheet and will likely start once again this weekend vs Everton.
