Newsboy’s racing tips for Friday’s four meetings, including Southwell Nap

Newsboy fancies two at Southwell on Friday with his Nap Twilight Diamond running in the 8.15 and Further Measure going for a five-timer in the 5.15

TWILIGHT DIAMOND is fancied to make a winning start in the sphere as he takes on seven rivals for the Gamble Responsibly At BetUK Handicap (8.15) at Southwell this evening.

The David O’Meara-trained four-year-old is bred to be decent – he’s a brother to Henry Candy’s smart sprinter Twilight Calls.

There was obviously a bump in the road in Twilight Diamond’s early career – he was four when he made his debut at Wolverhampton in January, and did so as a gelding.

However, his connections’ patience received its reward when David Nolan’s mount got his career off to the perfect start with a length-and-a-half beating of Bear Rock.

Sean D Bowen didn’t subject Mike Murphy’s stayer to maximum pressure for a head margin from Star Legend at the Rolleston course last time and a 4lb rise in the weights may prove within range.
