Two Man Utd stars walking suspension tightrope as Amorim facing big dilemma

Ruben Amorim has guided Manchester United to three consecutive wins in all competitions and could be a double suspension blow for the club in the coming weeks

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim could soon be grappling with a double suspension headache. After a hat-trick of victories against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton, United are sitting pretty at sixth place in the Premier League table.

Each of these wins showcased different strengths, with their latest 4-2 triumph over Brighton highlighting the attacking prowess they’ve added to their ranks this summer. Bryan Mbeumo netted twice, with one goal set up by Benjamin Sesko, after Matheus Cunha had given them the lead.

Casemiro was another standout performer for United, scoring a deflected goal that flew past Bart Verbruggen, while also providing an assist.

The Brazilian international was also particularly impressive against reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, clearly thriving on playing just once a week.

However, Amorim may soon have to plan for a United match without Casemiro, and not due to injury. The midfielder is already on three yellow cards, and two more before United’s 20th league game will result in a one-match ban.

Another potential suspension worry for what could have been as early as this weekend’s clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground also emerged in the win over Brighton. For Danny Welbeck’s superb free-kick to bring Brighton back into the game, Patrick Dorgu had fouled Yankuba Minteh as he was making a break for goal.

The Denmark international was only shown a yellow card as it was deemed that Minteh’s heavy touch meant it was not the denial of a clear and obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

However, it was his third caution of the campaign already which puts him in the same suspension predicament as Casemiro.

Amorim has favoured Diogo Dalot at left wing-back over Dorgu when deploying Amad on the opposite flank, but he has still been booked three times despite not starting any of United’s last three league games.

In terms of potential replacements for Casemiro, both Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo can be used alongside Bruno Fernandes, though Amorim would certainly prefer to have Casemiro available given his impact in recent weeks.

If one of Dorgu or Casemiro picks up that fourth yellow card over the next few weeks, Amorim could be facing some big dilemmas.

It is unlikely to come into his thinking but it is possible the United boss may not deploy Casemiro at home to Bournemouth in December on Monday evening as he would be suspended for the challenging trip to Aston Villa later that week.
